About Lorrie Henry

Lorrie Henry is a 37 year old motivational speaker/fitness expert and certified personal trainer inPhoenix, Arizona. She has called the Valley her home for more than 13 years now. Lorrie, although not a native considers herself and her family, Arizona pioneers. Shortly upon arriving to Phoenix and after her tour in the United States Marine Corps, Lorrie and her husband Hugh Henry gave up their roots back east to make Phoenix their new home. Lorrie established herself early on in the Phoenix fitness community working at small neighborhood gyms. She later moved on to help manage and operate some larger sports clubs like, The Q Sports Clubs which is now 24 Hour Fitness and Fitness Planet. Lorrie has more than 20 years of experience and applicable knowledge in the fitness industry as well, as a competitive athlete.   "I have always had a love for fitness.  I was weight training before women really knew the importance of resistance training.  So, when I first arrived in Phoenix, I sought out all the local bodybuilding and fitness shows I could find. It was a great opportunity to meet some true Arizona fitness natives. Troy Alves, IFBB Pro was just starting his career." Lorrie said. "The hardest part was that I have always had a love for fitness but after moving to Phoenix, I became so disappointed in myself because I started to realize that I was almost 70 pounds overweight. I was confused - here I was following the sport and working in the environment, yet somehow I still managed to gain a bunch of weight. How did that happen? Life is what happened and it happens to most of us.  So after a very positive and real, life changing journey back to healthy, I, now, focus on teaching my clients to accept the ups and downs of life especially when it comes to their weight management but do not get discourage, just continue to move forward because life is the only amazing journey you get."

Lorrie knows how important and critical it is to get the message out to the public - Get active!  So, Lorrie actively volunteers her time in her community working with amazing organizations like the YMCA, Scottsdale Healthcare, The Heart Hospital and the Arizona Diabetes Association.  Lorrie is also a television fitness personality appearing on shows like ABC's Fat March, Good Morning America, Fox News & Friends and ET speaking about everything fitness.   She also has recurring appearances on Sonoran Living Live on ABC 15.  Lorrie does anything and everything to cultivate a movement of fitness.  She does boot camps at 4:30 am Monday, Wednesday & Fridays; trains national ranked youth athletes in the evenings and will help anyone that needs it.  "I will help anyone, all they have to do is ask and sometimes they don't even have to do that!" smiles Lorrie.

Lorrie's training philosophy is simple; keep the motivational energy high, provide easy to remember routines, sound nutrition and most of all offer tons of support. She makes certain that her clients understand how to manage fitness and nutrition in their busy lives, not just in a gym.  "Like me, my clients lead very busy lives and I know no matter how much weight I lose or how long I maintain it, I will always struggle to make better choices about exercising and eating healthy daily.  It has to become as routine as brushing your teeth but somehow it has to be fun, too."

"When my clients train with me, they make decisions about what kind of life they want to have. It's not just about losing weight. I used to joke that being overweight is like being a gambler or an alcoholic, but it is not a joke. I will always be a recovering overweight person. My only hope is that I can help the 64 percent of Americans that are obese or overweight right now become recovering overweight people as well."

So, how do you make fitness as fun as happy hour but as routine as brushing your teeth? Lorrie proves it is just that easy to have fun. "I know the struggle it takes to make it to the gym everyday, so don't focus on the gym.  Focus on the activity you can create in your life and how you live.  Teach your mind to love your body and support it.  Believe that you are creating a whole new life, a rebirth to active healthy living then embrace it and then if my clients still make excuses, maybe the excuse will be a little different.  Maybe the excuse will be that they are taking the kids for a bike ride and I'm okay with that. I will not train a client for a lifetime; I train them to adopt a new lifestyle."

Lorrie's clients they all say the same thing that she gives you everything she's got. All of her energy and passion as a trainer comes through as she motivates you through your workouts and you feel energized, active and healthy but you also feel like you can do anything.  She makes you believe in who you are as an individual beyond losing weight.  She teaches you through her energetic smile, take on your dreams.
